Solomon, who is only 19-years-old, looks back on his time in London as what was a great learning experience.

“I will draw a lot of positives and confidence from the London Olympic Games, which will come of value in future competitions,” Solomon says.

“It also has reinforced my belief that great ambitions can achieve great results.”

The youngster performed well above expectations in London, winning his heat and then running a personal best (PB) sub-45s time to qualify for the final.

“It was special to have run a PB in the semis,” Solomon says.

“And to have cracked the forty-five second barrier for the first time was a huge relief. I have wanted to crack it for so long, and to do so in an Olympic semi final, it was worth the wait.”

Solomon was in awe as he took to the track in the 400m final, where he stood alongside the best sprinters in the world.

“The final cannot be summarised in words,” Solomon says.

“It was the first time that I had the opportunity to show the world who I am. It was nerve-racking, but that just made it all the more enjoyable.”

Due to his incredible performances, Solomon faced a huge media pack after each race, but he said that it was something he embraced more then he feared.

“I handled the hype of the Olympics by embracing it,” Solomon says.
“It is the most recognised sporting event in the world, and when given the opportunity to compete, I believe you must take a moment to recollect on all the hard work you and your team have put in to make it.

“When it came to racing, I did nothing different.I always go through the same routine – whether it be a local race or the Olympic final – [and] as long as I had my Vegemite with me, I knew I was going to be okay.”

But it was the support from his family, friends and the Australian community which gave Solomon the most confidence ahead of his races.

“The support I received from family, friends and fans really did fuel my performance in London”, Solomon says.
“Sharing the moment with my family was something that I will never forget, and on top of this, the support from back home was tremendous.”

“Hearing that I was inspiring people made me very happy. I really cannot thank people enough for there support.”
